America’s Got Talent: Howard Stern blasts former show, Simon Cowell

In the wake of all of the controversy surrounding Gabrielle Union’s dismissal from America’s Got Talentanother ex-judge is speaking out. Not only that, but this is one of the most powerful ones out there. Howard Stern had a notable reign as the most-famous judge on the program, bringing a different energy to the show and stabilizing it in the years leading up to Simon Cowell’s arrival as an on-air judge. (Before that, he was an executive producer behind the scenes.) Howard knows this show backwards and forwards, and it’s because of this that his comments about the series today are all the more notable.

Speaking on the subject via his SiriusXM platform today, here is some of what the King of All Media had to say:

“He has set it up that the men stay … no matter how old they are, no matter how fat they are, no matter how ugly they are, no matter talentless they are. But what he manages to do on all his shows is he constantly replaces the hot chicks with hotter chicks and younger chicks. Which is so obvious.”

This is the second time that there has been a retooling of the female judges on the panel over the past two years. Last year, Heidi Klum and Mel B were replaced by Julianne Hough and Gabrielle, and now, they will be replaced again. (Klum is returning for the latest America’s Got Talent: The Champions, and she will be joined by Britain’s Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon.)

According to Deadline, Union is also going to meet with NBC brass over the next week in order to discuss her exit from the show. She is not looking to return to the series; yet, at the same time she is looking for the show to have a better working environment for others moving forward. We may not learn much in terms of potential changes right away, but we do imagine that some could be in place before the new season begins next summer.
