Is Bluff City Law new tonight on NBC? Is there anything left?
If you haven’t heard some of the bad news yet, we may as well go ahead and spell it out for you now: There is no new episode tonight. Why? Well, it’s got a lot to do with the fact that last week was the finale. If that felt sudden when it aired, it’s because it really was. We don’t think anyone envisioned going in that this show would only get ten episodes but, in the end, it just didn’t deliver. It didn’t get really get the ratings that NBC wanted through its first several airings, leading to them trimming the episode order down. Maybe, had it performed better, there could have been more airing in the new year.
So does this news mean that Bluff City Law is off the air for good? Unofficially, we wouldn’t assume anything at the moment. Yet, officially we’re doubtful. The ratings haven’t been there and it would take a last-minute surprise for NBC to want to bring this back. Think along the lines of the ratings falling hard for some of the other shows on the schedule, really to the point where they feel like they need this one. At the moment, we’re just not seeing it.
Don’t expect a formal decision to come one way or another until we get around to April or May. Consider this NBC doing what it can to keep its options open for as long as humanly possible before rendering a final verdict. The only thing that we can do as viewers at this point to support the show is to watch via DVR and hope that a lot of other people do the same. Even if that happens, it’d probably still take a miracle to get the show back for more.
