Heading into Criminal Minds season 15, we know that there are going to be some dangerous UnSubs. There’s also a new Big Bad in Everett Lynch. Then, there’s also a huge situation with Reid and JJ that needs to be unraveled, one way or another.
Ultimately, it feels like this is something that will be tackled early on in the season, and we certainly think that it will be quite powerful. Here’s what we know for the time being. JJ admitted during a life-or-death confrontation in the season 14 finale that she’d “always loved” Reid. Yet, she also did it feeling that she had to reveal a dark secret in order to save their lives. Remember that earlier in the finale, there was also a scene featuring Reid and JJ where it was revealed that JJ has more of a great poker face than he first realized.

Below (via TVLine), you can see a photo featuring Matthew Gray Gubler and AJ Cook, and it definitely does appear as though there is a chumminess that exists between the two of them. Yet, we don’t think that this is a sign that the two are getting romantically together.
Do we think that JJ loves Reid? Absolutely, just as we think that Reid loves JJ. We just don’t think that it necessarily has to be romantic love. There are questions over timing (JJ is married to Will now), in addition to the question as to whether or not she was just saying what she needed to in order to stay alive. We also know that a new potential love interest for Reid is surfacing in the final season, as well.
No matter what the end result of this story is, know this: We’re going to see a whole lot more of JJ/Reid one way or another before the story concludes.
