Shameless season 10 episode 4: Who died? Is Mikey leaving?
Take, for example, the end of Luiz Guzman’s time on the show, at least for now, in the role of Mikey. For most of the season, he’s been Frank’s right-hand man, someone who he could rely on. They’ve had one of the most bizarre relationships imaginable, but it’s also been rather endearing to watch unfold. That’s especially the case tonight, given that Mikey ended the “best day of his life” by getting arrested, deciding to go to prison rather than find himself in a spot where he was out on the street and couldn’t afford proper healthcare. He punched a cop and with that, got a ticket to his survival. He knew he couldn’t be hired and this was his best option.

Meanwhile, Debbie in this episode received some rather-harsh news that Franny’s father Derek is actually dead. He died overseas while serving … albeit in a Suez Canal catastrophe that involved a crucial error on his part. Yet, she’s still fighting to get a death benefit on behalf of her daughter, something that she can use to survive during the strike. This should propel a new storyline for her for quite some time, but it’s also a pretty sudden end to the story of Derek given the past that he and Debbie had.
Finally, let’s touch on one other big revelation here — Tami is out of the hospital! That means that Lip will have some help. Meanwhile, Kelly’s turning up right at the time that Carl has gotten super-close to Anne, his colleague, tamale maker, and also occasional distributor. We’re in for a very messy next several episodes, to say the least. This should prove fun.
