Supergirl season 5 episode 8: Katie McGrath on Kara, Lena’s future
Yet, wouldn’t it be nice to see it happen before Crisis on Infinite Earths? Given what we know about this crossover at the moment, it’s pretty clear that Kara, and all of the multiverse, will need all hands on deck to sort things out.
Speaking to TV Guide leading into Sunday night’s new episode, Katie McGrath makes one thing abundantly clear — she wants to remain hopeful for Kara and Lena working things out:
“I think there’s always potential, you know … I think the writers are very smart, and I think they have a very clear, articulated plan about what they’re doing. And I would hate to think that you’re not going to get Kara and Lena back as they were before. And I think fundamentally Lena is still a very good person, and I think she does just miss her friends. She misses Kara desperately, and part of me believes that Lena would do anything to get that back if it meant that Kara wouldn’t, as she thought, betray her again. If Lena felt that Kara couldn’t betray her again, I think Lena would do anything to get that friendship back. I think the illustration of that is how hurt she was. You couldn’t feel that amount of hurt if you didn’t actually care.”
One of the reasons that this whole storyline for Lena and Kara works is that you can understand where both parties are coming. For Kara, we understand why she wanted to protect her alter ego — though she could have trusted that Lena wouldn’t use it against her. Meanwhile, Lena has to be hurting since she was fundamentally one of the last to know within Kara’s inner circle. Plus, there was so much tension with Supergirl that could have been rectified had she known the truth about who she really was.
