Moving into Madam Secretary season 6 episode 9 on CBS this weekend, you’re going to end up seeing President Elizabeth McCord in a strange spot. With possible impeachment looming, she knows that her Presidency and her officer are in a tight, bizarre spot. There’s no guarantee that she will keep her post forever!
With this in mind, Elizabeth seems perhaps more aware of the ticking clock than ever before — hence, why she has decided to take a very seize-the-day approach to anything and everything in the White House. There’s a pretty good reason why “Carpe Diem” is the title for what is coming up next!
In the sneak peek below, you can get a little more of a sense as to what Elizabeth is thinking about. She and Henry want to make a list of all of the different things that she wants to do before leaving office, and then do her best to act on some of them. There are some parts of the list that are on the smaller/sillier side, including sleeping in the Lincoln Bedroom. Then, there’s also the idea of working to operate the White House switchboard — there has to be somewhere that a lot of the calls go, right?
Following that, though, things start to get a little bit more serious as Elizabeth wants to do her part to combat gun control. It’s a highly ambitious thing for her to take on, and we certainly respect the gumption that goes into trying to make some big-time change happen here. With that being said, though, it’s obviously one of the most-difficult things in the world to tackle given the fact that there are so many strong stances on it and so many people willing to fight across the board for it. This is not an easy task for POTUS, but if she wants to give it a shot, we’ll see what happens through the final two episodes. We know that, at least insofar as its tone goes, Madam Secretary does its best to be hopeful. It wants us to believe in the power of politics at every moment possible.
