Dancing with the Stars season 29: Is it renewed? Premiere date hopes

Is Dancing with the Stars renewed for a season 29 over at ABC? Within this article, we come bearing discussion on that — plus also what the show’s future should be.

For the time being, the network has not confirmed the future of the ballroom competition one way or another — yet, we do continue to be hopeful. While this is not the runaway hit that the series once was, this is still a solid contender for the network. Not only that, but the season 28 ratings are reasonably steady compared to season 27.

Here’s where things stand at the moment — Dancing with the Stars is averaging a 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic and also 6.6 million viewers. These are decreases of less than 10% versus the live ratings last year, and that’s a pretty good amount of stability for a TV show in 2019. We don’t believe that there are any plans for there to be a Dancing with the Stars 29 in the spring; yet, we imagine that we’ll have a chance to see it, at the latest, next fall.

As for the casting, let’s just say this — it’s far too early to speculate one way or another as to who will be a part of it. We remain hopeful that Dancing with the Stars will learn from some of their mistakes this year when it comes to casting politicians — it doesn’t bring a whole lot of joy and instead, it creates further divisions. This goes regardless of what political party is being represented; ideally, we’d prefer to not have to see either one of them.

Does there need to be any changes insofar as the rules go? We do understand the inclusion of the judges having final say this year, so we don’t see that shifting. In general, there’s a solid format here that does work much of the time, though we do have quibbles here and there with specific thoughts from the judges.
