Unfortunately, first and foremost it has to be your source for some rather-bad news. After all, we’re not going to be getting the Ellen Pompeo series back on the air until Thursday, January 23. That means that it will be off the air for the better part of the next two months … not that this should be all that much of a surprise. This is a similar hiatus to the one that Grey’s Anatomy has had over the years, and it’s somewhat imperative in order to ensure that the show can air a lot of its episodes in bunches. We’ve still got more than half of season 16 to go and with that, there’s a lot of reason for excitement.

Beyond the return-date news, what actually has us the most surprised at the moment is simply this: Learning that Grey’s Anatomy is going to be navigating over to a different timeslot. After spending the past few years airing Thursday nights at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time, we’re going to see the show jumping back an hour to 9:00. This is to present a different sort of viewing environment for both this show and Station 19 as they look to be more connected than ever before. It may also help the ratings of Station 19 if viewers are used to checking out stories within this world at that particular time.
