The Masked SingerWho is the Flower on Wednesday night’s The Masked Singer? At the end of the episode tonight, we finally learned the truth … not that it was really that much of a surprise at all.

Just think about things about this way: The moment that you first heard the Flower sing, it was obvious that it was Patti LaBelle. She’s just one of those voices who is so easily recognizable the moment that you hear her sing. Also, the majority of the clues that were out there hinted that it was Patti, and Nick Cannon himself made it fairly clear tonight that he felt as though it was Patti under the mask for a good chunk of the season. (The thing about this show sometimes is that you do have to surrender yourself to some of the fun and forget about the guessing game.)

We’re thrilled that Patti decided to do this — we’re talking here about a living legend, someone who doesn’t have to do either this show or really anything that she doesn’t want to. She can just bask in her international fame and not have to worry about too much else. Her being the flower is hopefully going to serve as an inspiration to other big-name singers that it’s okay to give a show like this a try and have a little bit of fun. Even if you’re someone like LaBelle who can’t really disguise your voice, there are still opportunities to make viewers smile and show off a different side.
