We already knew that Eddie Murphy would be making his grand return to Saturday Night Live for the upcoming December 21 episode. Meanwhile, we’ve now learned that he is in rather familiar company.
Today, NBC confirmed that on December 7, actress/singer Jennifer Lopez is going to be coming on board alongside musical guest DaBaby. This isn’t the first time that Lopez (currently in the midst of an awards-season campaign for Hustlers) has hosted the late-night series, but it’s been several years and viewers of the modern era of the show may not even remember.
Meanwhile, on December 14 we also know now that Scarlett Johansson will return for her sixth time as host — meanwhile, Niall Horan will be serving as the musical guest. There are a couple of notable facts about this particular show. For starters, this episode comes less than a month after Horan’s former One Direction bandmate Harry Styles served as a host and musical guest. Meanwhile, Johansson is engaged to Weekend Update co-anchor Colin Jost. We kinda hope that the two act together in a couple of scenes with that in mind. (Also, it feels fair to expect that Scarlett will reprise her role as Ivanka Trump, given that she’s played her on occasion in the past.)

Murphy still remains the headliner to us for the December 21 episode, largely because of how long it’s been since he actually took on a comedic role on the series. He appeared in the 40th anniversary special, but only briefly as he introduced a segment.
What do you think about the Saturday Night Live hosting lineup at the moment for the month of December?
