NCIS season 17 episode 9 promo: It’s ‘game over’ for someone

NCIS

The main case at the center of NCIS season 17 episode 9 is an odd one — we’d even go so far as to say it’s one of the oddest of 2019 to date. We’re talking here, after all, about some sort of online gamer who finds themselves killed in a crime that seems to be connected to the game itself. How else can you describe the fact that he’s wearing a signature mascot head when his dead body is found in the bathtub?

Of course, it’s at this point that Gibbs chooses to go ahead and utter his signature comic-book line of “game over.” We’re not sure that this is the sort of episode Gibbs is going to excel at when it comes to the subject matter, but we like to think that the basic tenets of investigation and working to find answers still apply. There may not be too much that is different, at least within that regard. In terms of understanding the world of gaming, though, Gibbs may be better off getting a little bit of guidance from McGee. He knows this stuff, after all, so much better than just about anyone on the team.

Will Gibbs even have the time to pour his all into this case? We do wonder that, mostly due to the fact that he’s also going to be spending a chunk of time in this hour looking after Phineas. We first met this kid earlier this year, and his mother is going to be called away at the last-minute and needs someone to take the role on of babysitter. We don’t think that Gibbs will be bringing the kid over to crime scenes, so there could be some occasions in here where he has to either work remotely or trust his team. It may all be based on timing.
