This Is Us season 4 spoilers: Could Jennifer Morrison return as Cassidy?
For now, here’s what we know: Kevin gets engaged and becomes an expecting father at some point before his 40th birthday. He made some of these things his goal at the end of last night’s new episode and, in the end, he finds a way to achieve it. That’s impressive, but there are still questions as to how he goes about making this dream into reality. We’re sure that he didn’t just meet someone and get engaged for the sake of doing so, and the same goes for wanting to have a baby. We want to think that Kevin’s future is based more on love than just trying to achieve specific goals. Because of the quick timeline here, it’s fair to consider some of the women in Kevin’s past as possible future fiancé candidates. Think in terms of his ex-wife Sophie, his recent ex Zoe, or of course Morrison’s character, who he was with briefly in Bradford before Thanksgiving.

For the time being, show executive producer Dan Fogelman is staying rather mum on the subject of Morrison, stating the following to Deadline:
I can’t talk about it a lot without giving too much away. I think it’s fair to say she’s played a gigantic part in Kevin’s story. This chapter has been one of the formative chapters in his life. Whether it’s the end of her journey on this show has yet to be determined, but no one really ever goes away forever on our show.
Note that this quote could always be Fogelman playing coy, or maybe he sort of knows the arc of the woman who is going to be a big part of Kevin’s life without knowing her specific identity. No matter what, we do think we’ve got some interesting story coming in January.
