NCIS season 17 episode 9 spoilers: What’s going on with Gibbs, Sloane?

NCIS season 17 episode 9 is airing on CBS Tuesday night, and all signs for now indicate that it’s a big episode for Gibbs and Sloane. Whether or not it’s an episode that progresses their relationship forward is to be determined, but we know that the two are at least confiding in each other to a certain degree.

Let’s get to breaking down the sneak peeks now, as in the first one, Gibbs surprises the rest of the NCIS team by making it clear that he’s going to be off for a couple of days and no one’s really sure why. In his absence, you’re going to see McGee do his best in order to run point. This is relatively-strange behavior from Jethro, but it’s also something that has become at least somewhat more commonplace the next year or so.

As for the second preview, it seems like Sloane in the elevator wants to get Gibbs to open up about what’s going on, but he seems to spin it into what’s going on in the case. Maybe there’s something more that he will reveal to her over time — his absence could be due to Ziva, due to something that he’s doing with his new neighbors, or maybe he just wants to work on his boat for a little while. All of these possibilities are on the table right now in their own way.

Sloane, meanwhile, reveals something more revealing to Gibbs — she has heard from her biological daughter, who wants to see her. Given how recently she seemed interested in steering clear of her mother, it’s a little odd that she wants to meet up now. In the end, we’ll have to see what happens.
