Poldark season 6: The odds of Aidan Turner, cast returning
Following tonight’s big finale, is there any chance at all of a Poldark season 6 — whether that be now or some other point down the road? It’s a worthy point of discussion, and we say that knowing full well that the PBS broadcast tonight is billed as the series finale.
There are significant, story-based reasons to think that there could be more Poldark coming at some point down the road. Think about it this way — there are a lot of stories that are still left to be told from the Winston Graham source material. The problem is that many of them occur a significant stretch of time into Ross Poldark’s future. There’s a massive time jump that Poldark as a series would have to account for and we’re very much curious to see how the show would do that, if there ever is a season 6.
Once way in which to happen is for, rather fittingly, the cast to move on to other things and then come back years in the future. The plan is for season 5 to be the final one, and this is in part why the series is opting to drop the curtain now. Nobody wants to offer up any hope where there isn’t any hope to offer.
Yet, at the same time we’ve also heard Aidan Turner and other cast members take a “never say never” approach to the idea of coming back and doing more. They’re going to go off and do other things, but maybe in several years’ time, they’ll all want to come back into this world. We know that doing Poldark season 6 was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many people, in between heading off to Cornwall and taking on this rich, deeply nuanced characters.
For now, Poldark season 6 is a dream — one we don’t want to give up on.
