Supergirl season 5 episode 8 spoilers: Midseason finale drama

Supergirl season 5 episode 8 is going to be entitled “The Wrath of Rama Khan,” and beyond just having an obvious Star Trek reference in the name, we know that this is going to be a huge hour of television. This marks the end of the first part of this season — or, at least the part before we get around to Crisis on Infinite Earths. The CW is promoting that as largely its own entity so with that in mind, this installment will serve as a proper end to the first of the Supergirl story this go-around. That means, in turn, a temporary end to everything that is going on with Leviathan.

MID-SEASON FINALE – Supergirl’s (Melissa Benoist) struggle against Leviathan reaches a boiling point as she faces off against Rama Khan (guest star Mitch Pileggi). Meanwhile, as Lena (Katie McGrath) and Hope (Andrea Brooks) work to launch Project Non Nocere, Hope proves to be an invaluable asset to Lena. Marcus Stokes directed the episode written by Lindsay Struman & Jessica Kardos (#508). Original airdate 12/1/2019.

This is one of those episodes that is almost impossible to predict, and one of the reasons why is the presence of that Crisis on the other side. There can’t be too much of an independent cliffhanger here from the crossover, since one thing bleeds into the other. There needs to be enough narrative space so that Kara can embark on helping everyone else survive what’s coming up. We’re sure that there will be some other important characters involved, as well, but to what extent remains a mystery.

Yet, we would think that there will be a few different twists, whether it be about Leviathan or something else, that will be sprinkled into this narrative over time. We don’t exactly think that the Supergirl creative team wants you to check out Crisis and then just bail on the remainder of the season! There’s something more here…
