New Amsterdam season 2 episode 9 spoilers: The trip to Rikers Island
If you live in New York City (or, at the very least, seen the HBO show The Night Of), then you have a pretty good sense already of how brutal Rikers can be. It’s one of the notable prisons in the country for a reason — and technically, we did learn recently that the prison is going to be shutting down. Granted, that’s not going to be for some time still and with that in mind, there’s plenty of time for New Amsterdam to use it as a story. What makes this story so powerful is that it’s going to revolve largely around several doctors needing to head to said island in order to help prevent a sickness.

11/19/2019 (10:01PM – 11:00PM) (Tuesday) : When an inmate comes in with an entirely preventable illness, Max, Sharpe, and Iggy head directly to the source – Rikers Island. Meanwhile, Bloom struggles with her recovery, and Reynolds gets news that could change his life. TV-14 L, V
Through most of this episode, we suppose that there will be one big surprise after the next. For a character like Dr. Bloom, we could get an opportunity to understand more of how she’s faring leading up to a possible cliffhanger … and we have to think there will be one. Isn’t this what most series do much of the time?
The promo for what is coming up mostly suggests that the journey to Rikers is going to be a tough one for some of the doctors — let’s just say that these may not be the most willing patients ever.
