Outlander will be eligible at the 2020 Golden Globes
Today, we can confirm now courtesy of Starz that Outlander will be eligible again for the 2020 Globes, due mostly to airing episodes early this year. The series will be submitted, though we’d consider it an underdog given the small number of episodes and then also the fact that it was so heavily considered last year. Season 5, as you would have guessed, will be eligible for the 2021 Golden Globes in addition to the 2020 Emmys, which will air more than likely in September — more information will be out on that in due time. (The new season is going to be premiering on Sunday, February 16.)
Our hope is that getting this information out there will help Outlander a little moving into the remainder of campaign season. Because of the limited number of episodes, we don’t have huge expectations — yet, Outlander has succeeded in that underdog role before!
The Golden Globes have, historically, been the kinder awards show to the series. While it has yet to win any major prizes there, Caitriona has been nominated multiple times, while the series itself has scored some Drama Series love in the past. Unfortunately, Sam has been snubbed consistently by the Globes and the Emmys, though we are hoping for this to change at some point in the future.
