The Blacklist season 7 ratings rise; Charmed season 2 slips
Let’s start things off, though, with what you’re going to be happy about from The Blacklist point of view — last night’s new episode generated in total a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and then also 4.19 total live viewers. In the demo, it was only down a tic from the performance of Hawaii Five-0, which was the #1 show of the night. This was also the most-watched episode of the James Spader drama this fall, and it is actually up versus the viewer average from season 6.
While there is no guarantee that we’re getting a season 8 of The Blacklist — especially with the just-announced and quite infuriating midseason hiatus — we do think that there are some reasons to be hopeful. Why would NBC want to end a show that is faring in a pretty solid fashion compared to its numbers from last year? This is the sort of performance most networks only dream of having.

As for some bad news…
The CW’s lineup on Friday night is in the midst of some hard times. Take, for example, Charmed posting in the end a 0.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic. This is the same sort of performance that we’ve seen from Dynasty on the network, as well, and it continues to raise the question as to whether or not the CBS part of the CW partnership is really carrying its weight. Think about how most of the studio’s shows have been performing and it’s far from great.
While it may sound crazy, we don’t actually think that Charmed and Dynasty are dead and buried in terms of their numbers. In the cases of both shows, we are talking here about ones with sizable international followings and then also shows that have streaming deals to help back them up.
