The Blacklist season 7 to take lengthy midseason hiatus; why?

So what’s going on with that? It’s a good question, especially since January seemed to be one of those times where the show had an opportunity to really shine. We think the reasoning behind the network’s move, at least at present, is twofold.
1. It allows NBC’s new Bone Collector series to get a good premiere spot – The show is specifically titled Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector, and it’s going to have a run through the first couple of months of the year. This is the sort of move that will enable the network to collect (pun intended) more viewers at a time in which they are around in January.
2. It allows The Blacklist to air with fewer interruptions – In waiting until March to premiere more news episodes, that NBC is doing is giving themselves a chance to bring the show back and air the remaining installments without any sort of big break in between.
So what does this move mean in terms of the long-term future of The Blacklist? We would argue not all that much, given that NBC did not confirm anything when it comes to its future today. We don’t believe personally that they want to end the show with season 7, given that they had a golden opportunity today and chose not to announce anything. We just hope that the long midseason hiatus doesn’t kill any momentum, especially given that we are coming off the highest-rated episode of the season this past Friday. We want to see it continue to have as much positive momentum that it can.st
