Law & Order: SVU season 21 episode 8 spoilers: Rollins goes undercover

Law & Order: SVU season 21 episode 8 will kick things off with a difficult case and from there, it will move in some interesting directions. This is a story entitled “We Dream of Machine Elves” and hallucinations are going to be a big part of this story. This is not going to be a case that the team is going to be able to solve via any sort of conventional means … at all. Instead, this is a case that will end up throwing a lot of the main characters for a loop.

11/14/2019 (10:00PM – 11:00PM) (Thursday) : Rollins goes undercover to find a suspect who is drugging and assaulting tourists, while Benson helps the victims sort out their memories from their hallucinations. Starring Mariska Hargitay, Ice T, Kelli Giddish, Peter Scanavino and Jamie Gray Hyder. Guest starring Demore Barnes, Adam Arkin, Eve O’Brien and Amy Hargreaves. TV-14 D

Seeing Rollins undercover is always going to make for compelling television, but we’re not going to sit here and pretend like this is just some happy-go-lucky case we can watch with excitement. Taking advantage of tourists in this way is horrific — they’re in New York for a good time, and they may not even speak English altogether well. They are some of the most vulnerable people out there, and that’s why it’s important that Rollins takes this on while Benson tries to figure out how to circumvent what may be the frustrating side effects of some of the drugs.

Beyond all of this, isn’t it just nice to see Hyder’s name mentioned as a part of the main cast now? That’s something that will be there at least through the end of the season, if not longer. The squad has a little bit of stability again, and we are intrigued to see how her present over time could influence or shift some of the dynamics between all of the different team members.
