Legends of Tomorrow season 5: Brandon Routh films final day
In a new post on Instagram, Routh confirmed his exit with a message praising his co-stars and talking about the incredible journey that he’s had as this character. It’s been an odd, underdog quest like no other for some of the CW series’ original cast members. Season 1 was in many ways a critical disappointment and a creative mess, with the writers and producers working to figure out just what they wanted the show to be. Yet, they figured it out and from season 2 onward, they created what may very well be one of the strongest overall shows in the Arrowverse. It’s funny, imaginative, and it shows comic-book characters in a different light than you would come to expect.
What we loved about Routh’s Ray is that he was one of the few characters in this world who was unrelentingly positive. He always tried to look for the best in everything, and his status as a brilliant scientist and inventor made him an inspirational figure. He wasn’t always lucky in love, but we’re hoping for some good things when it comes to him and Nora Darhk (Courtney Ford), who is also leaving this coming season.

With Palmer exiting Legends of Tomorrow, we’re now going to be in a position where Sara Lance (Caity Lotz) and Mick Rory (Dominic Purcell) are going to be the only original cast members left. Sure, there are some other longtime actors including Nick Zano and Maisie Richardson-Sellers, but we have to imagine that there is a special bond that exists between some of those people who were present from the very beginning and went through some of those highs and lows.
