Rest assured, the future is still bright, and there’s nothing controversial about the one-week hiatus that is happening on the network tonight. The simple reason we’re not seeing it is due to the fact that there are Halloween specials airings and they (like It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!) are an annual tradition. The Conners will be back, and it will be back in as soon as one week.

Not only that, but it will be back with a Halloween episode of its own! “Nightmare on Lunch Box Street” has been confirmed to be an installment all about the holiday … though it’s not like personal stories are going to take a back seat completely. Jackie has some decisions to make about some business interests, while Darlene still has to deal with some chaotic matters of the heart. This is an episode that will combine the holiday, some old-school Roseanne references, and the world of 2019 all into a single episode. Let’s just hope the end results are as entertaining as we think they could be.

So while The Conners is off the air today, there’s no evidence of it going anywhere — it remains one of the highest-rated comedies on network TV and through that, there are no immediate signs of it slowing down and fading somewhere into the background. The season 2 episode order is larger than season 1; plus, there will be more of a presence for Katey Sagal throughout! Once you start getting into the business of bringing Katey on board for extended periods of time, it’s kind of a sign you mean business.
