Dancing with the Stars preview: Will Karamo be eliminated next?

As we look ahead towards Monday night’s Dancing with the Stars episode — and elimination — we know that someone is on the chopping block. With that said, who it?

We should note that, per the announcement on this past double-elimination, the scores that we’ve just seen will matter and play a big role in what’s coming. The same goes for some of what’s coming up next. We wouldn’t say that there is complete parity this season, but there are some defined tiers — there are the favorites like James Van Der Beek, Hannah Brown, and Ally Brooke, but then there are some people who you have to worry about. Kel Mitchell’s been in danger before, Karamo hasn’t received the greatest scores as of late, and Sean Spicer is probably the worst dancer still in the competition.

So what should we take away from this field? Well, we like to think that Kel’s recent surge of good performances helps him — we don’t think that he is going to win this season, but maybe he’s bought himself a couple of weeks. Meanwhile, we have no reason to think that Spicer’s fans are bailing on him. When the President is tweeting out messages to vote for you, it’s clear that you’re going to have people doing whatever they can.

Then, there is also the question of Karamo. Is he for-sure going to be heading out on Monday night? It’s not looking good for him, but let’s throw out a couple of other possibilities here.

Take, for starters, the chances of a Sailor Brinkley-Cook exit. She’s been a strong dancer for most of the season, but who are her fans? Maybe some of them would’ve cheered for her mother Christie and like her story, but it’s hard to sustain that all season. (Also, there are a models who haven’t done well on the show over the years.) We think the odds are low that she goes Monday, but she’s still on our radar. You also can’t rule out already Kate Flannery — a part of her appeal was thinking that she was starting the show with no dance experience, but now we’ve learned that she studied it extensively in school. Is some of that appeal waning?

In the end, though, the structure of the season makes it harder for there to be a shock boot — we love Karamo, but unless he’s in the bottom two with Sean, it’s hard to envision a scenario where he stays. With that, if you care for the Queer Eye star, you gotta vote for him to avoid the bottom two outright!
