Big Brother 28 airs tribute card to Mickey Lee after tragic passing

We were wondering heading into the Big Brother 28 premiere how the show was going to pay tribute to the late Mickey Lee. Suffice it to say, the series wasted no time.

At the very start of tonight’s 90-minute episode, the show aired a tribute card honoring the season 27 houseguest. As so many of you know, Mickey was a huge, dynamic personality and one of the biggest players during the early part of the season. She was eventually evicted but even after her exit, she still was a subject of discussion throughout the house. She was bold and unapologetically herself, and that is something that we will always hope for among all future houseguests.

Tragically, Mickey passed away last December at the age of 35 after a series of cardiac arrests led to her being hospitalized. The passing was sudden and tragic, and it also hit so many members of the show’s community incredibly hard. This is a show that has not lost many houseguests over the years, especially one we lost in such a sudden and shocking fashion. We know that the houseguests from last seasons have all spoken about Mickey and taken some time in order to grieve.

In a statement from last year, here is what Lee’s family had to say regarding her passing:

“Mickey captured the hearts of audiences nationwide through her appearance on Big Brother, where her authenticity, strength, and spirit left a lasting impression on fans and fellow cast members alike. She will be remembered for the joy she brought into the lives of so many and for the genuine connections she formed both on and off screen.”
