Supergirl season 5 episode 3 spoilers: Troubles ahead for Kara, Kelly
Let’s start with one Kara Danvers, given that she’s going to have dual responsibilities in a lot of ways. She’ll be forced to take on a murder case, which almost has a certain Detective Comics vibe to it. Yet, beyond just that, there are some battles ahead for Supergirl — ones that are reminiscent of another comic-book in Spider-Man. Yet, this time around, the web-shooter is a bit of the darker persuasion. This could prove to be a fun battle-of-the-week plot with larger ramifications, depending of course on how things build up over time. This has been a rough season for Kara to date — there are the larger themes of this story, there’s a new boss at CatCo, and she’s still working to save an ever-changing National City. Then, there’s also the story of Kelly Olsen on Sunday’s “Blurred Lines,” as she is going to show how far she is willing to go in order to help people — most notably old friends. Yet, is there a point where you have to cut bait for the sake of her own future? We’d say that the answer to this question is clearly “yes,” but that may be something that the character has to figure out for herself. In speaking out on this further, though, here is what Azie Tesfai had to say in a new interview with TVInsider:
“You see another layer to how much Kelly is committed to helping people … She continues to risk her own job security and her own career like she did in the last episode with J’onn to help people she cares about.”
It’s great to be kind — we think that Supergirl has done a pretty good job of illuminating that time and time again. Yet, there are consequences to everything, including kindness. This could be a part of the world that we start to dive into from here.
