Will NCIS season 17 episode 5 be set at Halloween?

Is NCIS season 17 episode 5 going to serve as a Halloween episode? That’s a question that we wondered the moment that we saw the promo. “Wide Awake” is designed to be somewhat creepy in nature, as a young woman seems to be the primary suspect of a murder that she doesn’t remember doing. Why? She claims that she was asleep.

Was this woman hypnotized in order to do something terrible? Do we have an NCIS adversary with mind-control powers? These are questions that you’ll be seeing answered at some point in here … and they also could be the subject of some examination in the promo below. (We’ve enclosed it, in the event you haven’t seen it already.)

Well, thanks to the photo above, we do have some confirmation that there will be some sort of Halloween component to this episode — even if there are no characters in costume. You do have some pumpkins sprinkled in here and there. For those wondering, this photo seems to be from one of the major subplots of this episode, one where Gibbs ends up spending some time with new neighbors after a kid accidentally knocks a baseball through one of his windows. It’s one of those things where he’ll obviously be upset about it, but after the fact may find some sort of comfort in knowing that the boy didn’t mean to. As a matter of fact, it’s a chance for Gibbs to show off a little bit of his kinder side.

One of the things that we’ve certainly recognized about Gibbs these past several months is that he’s changing — he’s trying to change up his routine and think a little bit outside of himself. This episode could be a chance to better showcase some of that evolution — think of it as an introduction to a brand-new sort of Leroy Jethro Gibbs from what we’ve seen in the past.
