The Sinner season 3 trailer: Matt Bomer, Bill Pullman shine
Curious to learn what lies ahead on The Sinner season 3? There are new episodes coming onto USA in the new year, and the trailer below makes the story all sorts of chilling.
So what is going on here? What we know at present is rather simple: Bomer is playing Jamie, a family man who is at the center of an “accident” that turns out to be so much more. Per the official USA logline, this season will “follow Detective Harry Ambrose (Pullman) as he begins a routine investigation of a tragic car accident on the outskirts of Dorchester, in upstate New York. Ambrose uncovers a hidden crime that pulls him into the most dangerous and disturbing case of his career.” Given what Ambrose has been through so far, that is really saying something.
In the trailer below, you get a better sense of some of what Jamie may be hiding — a secret that he is desperate to keep hidden. This is where Chris Messina is going to come into play as Nick, an old friend who comes across as pretty terrifying here. He seems to have something hanging over him that Jamie is desperate to stay buried … but he may not be able to convince Nick to stay silent about it. This is all at the center of what looks to be an intense, crazy investigation. There are a lot of secrets, but remember this — after what Ambrose went through with Cora in season 1 and then Julian in season 2, this has to be pretty darn insane for him to have this sort of reaction to it. Think in terms of the sort of stuff that makes your eyes pop out of your socket.
The Sinner is keeping you waiting this time around for new episodes — by the time season 2 premieres, it will have been at least 16 months, give or take, since the premiere of season 2. Maybe this is a function of giving the creative team time to craft another new mystery — it’s hard to keep refreshing the narrative one year after the next.
