Outlander video: Caitriona Balfe discusses her favorite episode
Today, we’re following up on Sam Heughan’s discussion of this subject with a favorite episode from none other than Caitriona Balfe. When we heard that “Faith” was going to be a part of the marathon, it was easy to assume that it would be Caitriona’s personal pick … and the video below proves that.
In this clip HERE, the actress does her part in order to explain why “Faith” as an episode means so much to her, let alone a number of other viewers all over the world. Emotionally, it speaks to an experience that many women have had, and it does so in a way that is raw, truthful, and gripping. It’s an experience that still exists in Claire’s mind — she may not talk about losing Faith every day, but it is still very much there.
Beyond just the emotional content of the episode, Balfe also discusses how “all of the ingredients were there” behind the scenes — think in terms of a stellar script from Toni Graphia, fantastic direction, and also some beautiful locations that painted an even greater scene than usual (and that is saying something). “Faith” is an episode that sticks with you, and it is certainly one that could have earned Balfe an Emmy … in a world, of course, where Outlander manages to get some of the Emmy nominations that it deserves.
The Outlander marathon is going to start at 1:30 p.m. Eastern time on Starz, and there are some other episodes that will be featured in it beyond the pilot (Sam’s choice) and then also “Faith.” Think along the lines of “Dragonfly in Amber,” “Uncharted,” “The Birds & the Bees,” and others. Hopefully at some point between now and Saturday, we’ll be able to pair some of these episodes off with other actors.
Why is Starz doing this? It’s a great way in order to ensure that there are some more viewers watching this weekend — if nothing else, you can build up more attention between now and when season 5 premieres in February.
