Outlander season 5 filming update: Caitriona Balfe’s status report
In a new post on Instagram (see HERE), Caitriona Balfe offered up this new status update! There’s a lot of work being done on the show at virtually all hours of the day, and within the final filming block, everyone can start to feel a sense of closure and also take advantage of an opportunity to have a bit of a breather. We reported last night that episode 11 is especially notable, given that it was written by none other than author Diana Gabaldon. She prepared what we’re sure is a fantastic script and from here, it can transition into what will hopefully be an epic finale. That installment will have the challenge of both tying together some loose ends on the season and then also setting the stage for season 6, which will start filming next year.
So where do we think season 5 will leave off? A lot of it depends on how the writers choose to adapt the story of The Fiery Cross, but we know that the story is building towards the Revolutionary War. Meanwhile, there are also some big decisions to make in regards to whether or not some characters, most notably Roger and Bree, are going to stay in this time period. It makes sense for Claire to do since Jamie cannot travel, but for these other characters, there are more questions that were reflected in the recent teaser.
Luckily, we’ll get some of our answers before too long — season 5 will premiere on Starz on February 16.
