All American season 2 gets three more episodes after strong start

All American season 2

Following a strong start in the ratings, there is some good news to hand down when it comes to All American season 2 on The CW. There are going to be three more episodes in the order!

Overall, the third season is now going to have 16 episodes overall, which puts it a little bit more in line with season 1 at the network. It’s a big stamp of approval for a show that, just a few months ago, was very much considered to be on the bubble. We wondered if it was going to come back and, in the end, The CW chose to do on the strength of its Netflix viewership.

By the way, it is the show’s Netflix viewership that has All American in this sort of advantageous position in the first place. It was so successful, in fact, on the streaming service that there were some people before today who didn’t even know that the show originally aired on The CW. A lot of people found it and now, it’s more of a hit. This is proof-positive as to why networks need to sometimes take a chance on a show, even if it’s not all that much of a ratings dynamo. If the quality is there, we know there are chances for it to find more viewers later On Netflix.

With this in mind, it’s one of the reasons why we’re slightly concerned about a lot of different networks and studios moving away from Netflix in favor of their own streaming services — which may or may not work. If All American was on a less-popular service with fewer tools for discovery this summer, would it be in the same position that it’s in now? We’re not altogether sure about that. Ultimately, the best thing that a show can do is take advantage of the resources when they have them — for now, we hope that this propels All American towards some more great stuff a little later on down the road!
