You may have heard a thing or two already about Grey’s Anatomy season 16 episode 3, at least in that it’s a part of ABC’s Cast From the Past Week. Throughout the next several days, you are going to shows and appearances that are constructed mostly with nostalgia in mind.
So how is that impacting the world of the ABC drama? Well, think in terms of Holly Marie Combs and Alyssa Milano impacting the world of the series!

If you haven’t seen any of the assorted teasers that are out there already about the series, then know this — you’re going to end up seeing Combs and Milano play two sisters on the series, women who are coming together in order to figure out how to help their other sister Heather, who was involved in some sort of accident. The two are actually not at the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, but rather Dr. Webber’s new place of employ. This is where he is going to do whatever they can to help navigate them through a really difficult situation.
While it doesn’t seem as though either Combs or Milano is going to be around in the long-term on this show, at the same time there should still be a lot of powerful stuff within this episode at the same time. It will make these castings worthwhile and turn them into something that is so much more than just nostalgia.
As for how long we’re going to be seeing Webber and Alex at their new place of employ, we’re not sure that it’s going to be an altogether permanent spot for them. It just feels too weird to imagine the two doctors away from people who are not only their colleagues but also their friends. There’s still room to explore some very-cool stuff over the coming weeks and days.
