‘Jersey Shore’ season 6: Deena Cortese’s arrest leads to ratings … fall?
At this point, it seems as though nothing is going to make “Jersey Shore” the phenomenon that it once was during its final season … not even one of its main characters doing something that would have previously brought in some huge ratings for the show.
The latest ratings for the hit MTV program have come in, and they show one thing above all else: there’s still no end in sight to this decline. This episode scored just a 1.6 in the 18-49 demographic and less than three million viewers, which is the lowest-rated broadcast for a 10:00 p.m. show since the very first season (back before people knew what this show really existed). Even though these ratings really do signal that viewers have grown tired of watching the same thing (and that MTV potentially killed their own product with all of the spin-offs), we have a feeling that the network is really not going to be upset about the fall of a franchise that has been the best thing to happen to them since “The Osbournes” became a phenomenon a decade ago.
Will the show ever turn these ratings around during the season? We think so, but it probably will not happen until we inch closer to the much-anticipated series finale a little bit later in the year, as old viewers will probably watch one more time to get their last dose of GTL in. Even with that, though, the fact that there is a second season of “Snooki & JWoww” coming up really does diminish the impact of this episode, since we know we will probably see most of these people on the network again via some cameo appearance at some point.
Are you shocked that the arrest of Deena Cortese, which produced some pretty good unintentional comedy for the show, did not produce a ratings jump this week? Be sure to share below.

Jersey shore has no substance, and deena is really not that popular she is sort of the lesser half of the meatball duo. People, especially girls tuned in to see snooki and now she is basically off the fun market being a mom and all If she was to continue to be the bumbling buffoon she was before motherhood who the hell wants to see a bad mom show, that would just make people wanna throw tanning oil at her head.
Mike basically made everyone hate him regardless of the reasons his image is tarnished. Ronnie and Sammie are annoying. A lotta dudes that were watching was hoping for fun Ronnie to come back but that never happened. Vinny pauly and jwoww are cool, but of the 3 only pauly d has any real entertainment value and MTV devalued him by giving him his own show with a bunch of his buddies and rushed it out there without building a proper narrative behind them so you weren’t interested in the other characters on the show, they sorta just threw them out there thinking the momentum of the the main show would carry them, it didn’t and it really couldn’t.
All in all the jersey shore franchise is dead, a lot of fans were continuing to watch jersey shore in the hopes of recapturing the fun vibe of the first season, now that everyone knows this is the last season and there is no hope of that vibe ever coming back people stopped “chasing the dragon” What used to be a show about young adults acting wild became a terrible guido young & the restless and it deserves to be put to sleep.
If they had the sense to replace sammie with a new character before the beginning of last season, there would be single ronnie and a spare snooki but, coulda woulda shoulda right?
