The Blacklist season 7 episode 2 promo: Katarina challenges Reddington

As we prepare ourselves for The Blacklist season 7 episode 2 on NBC this coming Friday, it’s clear that Reddington is in trouble. Big trouble. Katarina Rostova has him prisoner once again, and she’s out to get some information out of him ASAP.

Should Katarina have just gone with the blood-drawing plan immediately, as opposed to the big, sprawling attempt at getting answers out of him with the fake hospital? We’d argue so, but the events of “Louis T. Steinhil” do have merit. For starters, it shows the true extent of Katarina’s operation, including just how far she’s willing to go in order to get what she wants and also how many resources that she has. It also shows that, perhaps, she doesn’t actually want Raymond Reddington to die. She wants him to be concerned, but she doesn’t seem to want something terrible to happen to him. She’s just out for her own brand of self-preservation. Sure, she’s now in a position where she’s drawing a lot of blood out of him, but at this point, she doesn’t feel as though she has that much of a choice. These are the cards that have been dealt to her given what she thinks she is up against.

While the promo below for what’s next doesn’t show too much beyond Katarina trying to interrogate her former love, we know that this story will get a little more sprawling than it at first appears. First, Reddington will get some help from an “unlikely ally” — could it be Dom? We know that the character will be returning in the episode in some form, based on the cast listing. We’ve also seen a separate promo for the season featuring him preparing for battle … but is it going to be a battle in this episode. Time will tell there.

Given how exciting and dramatic the premiere for The Blacklist season 7 was, one thing does feel very clear: There’s some really great stuff coming up.

What do you think is coming on The Blacklist season 7 episode 2?
