The Expanse season 4 trailer, more details via New York Comic-Con

The Expanse

Even though The Expanse season 4 may not be premiering onto Amazon until we get around to the middle of December, we come bearing more news today! While at New York Comic-Con today, a new teaser trailer was revealed with some fantastic narration and thematic power, and we know that attendees had a chance to watch the entirety of the season 4 premiere.

It was not an easy road for The Expanse to land on Amazon, but it seems to be a satisfying one — the show was canceled after three seasons by Syfy, in a decision that still feels controversial and/or rather aggravating to this day. Why deprive yourself of something when it seems to be beloved by so many fans? Yet, the good news is that Amazon was ready and willing to scoop the show up, and they seem to be equally pleased to usher it into what could be an exciting, ambitious next stage of its run.

Below, CarterMatt does have the official The Expanse season 4 trailer, just in case you do want some more news as to what’s coming up next:

The Expanse begins a new chapter for the series with the crew of the Rocinante on a mission from the U.N. to explore new worlds beyond the Ring Gate. Humanity has been given access to thousands of Earth-like planets which has created a land rush and furthered tensions between the opposing nations of Earth, Mars and the Belt. Ilus is the first of these planets, one rich with natural resources but also marked by the ruins of a long dead alien civilization. While Earthers, Martians and Belters maneuver to colonize Ilus and its natural resources, these early explorers don’t understand this new world and are unaware of the larger dangers that await them.

Within this upcoming batch of episodes, one of the things that we’re most hoping to see is (fittingly) a greater expansion of this world, a sense of culture, and then also danger and learning. Yet, we know that this show is capable of some high-octane, dramatic sequences, but one of the joys of deep-space series is the exploration and seeing what more of the universe is out there. That’s one of the things that made the first Star Trek so engrossing from the get-go.
