Hawaii Five-0 (Steve & Danny) vs. Euphoria (Rue & Jules) – ‘Shiptober poll

'Shiptober

Welcome to ‘Shiptober 2019! Throughout the month of October, CarterMatt will be bringing you our annual tournament featuring some of best ‘ships in all of TV. What is a ‘ship? It is comprised of characters you want to see together romantically. Maybe they’re already together, or maybe they’ve never been together. It doesn’t matter. ‘Shipping is one of the most popular parts of any TV fandom, it’s super fun and this tournament is a celebration of that.

For this battle, we have a battle between a very-much-established ‘ship and then also one that is totally new. In one corner, for example, we’ve got the established ‘ship Steve & Danny from Hawaii Five-0. Meanwhile, in the other we’ve got Rue & Jules from Euphoria, who are participating in ‘Shiptober for the first time after a run this summer. One of the two will emerge victorious and move forward — that is going to be up to you!

Voting Rules – Voting will be underway in the poll below from now until Tuesday, October 15 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time. Vote however often you’d like! (For more voting instructions or technical questions, check out the bottom of this article for answers.)

Be sure that you subscribe to CarterMatt on YouTube — there are frequent video discussions there for many of the shows discussed in this tournament!

Steve & Danny, Hawaii Five-0 (#1 seed) – Think about the amount of stability that the two have brought each other. These are the only two characters left who have been series regulars for the entirety of run, and they’ve stuck together while so many around them have fluctuated over time. There’s a love here that is hard to replicate — they’d die for each other and yet, they also still find a way to keep their day-to-day filled with good humor and playful ribbing. McDanno still is a major part of the show … even if they don’t have the restaurant in the cards anymore.

Rue & Jules, Euphoria (#8 seed) – Trying to define the relationship between these two characters on the HBO hit is difficult, mostly because we’re not sure that they would want to define it, either. There is so much more than just a fascination here — there’s a desire to be with one another, to heal some of the wounds that are there. There’s a reason why the idea of running away together was so appetizing. While this didn’t end up happening in the end, the door is left over for the two to explore so much more moving into the second season.

Now, it’s your turn

Who do you want to see advance to the tournament? Be sure to vote below!

I can’t see the poll; what do I do? – If you are on mobile, scroll to the bottom of the page and click to view the non-AMP version. If that does not work, give the poll a moment to load! On some mobile browsers, it may take a moment.

How can I vote more than once? – If you are having trouble casting multiple votes, try switching your browser, your device, or visiting the page under private browsing or incognito mode. There should be many handy guides online explaining how to do so if interested.
