The Affair season 5 episode 7 spoilers: Whitney confronts Noah
This episode isn’t the first time that Noah’s demons are coming out — after all, the whole movie he is working on is about it! He’s being forced to star his troubles in the face time and time again and based on some of what we know now, some of these demons are not going to be vanishing in the near future. They are going to be there.

In a sneak peek that you can watch over here, you can bear witness to a desperate Whitney, trying to get some sort of answers from her father about why he did what he did. Why leave Helen and hurt his family? What was the end goal of it? Did he find any real happiness with Allison or anyone else? Why even get married in the first place? Whitney is getting married herself and she’s dealing with a number of these questions at this particular moment. She wants solace to make herself understand more what she is getting herself into. (Remember what happened earlier this season to Whitney and a certain flame from her past; that may be something that she is having a tough time getting out of her head at this moment in time.)
Unfortunately for Whitney, we’re not sure that she is getting any of the answers that she seeks amidst this conversation. We’re not sure that she is getting any information at all. Instead, Noah just doesn’t have a whole lot of answers other than admitting some of his own mistakes. Is it great on some level that he recognizes his flaws? Sure, but you also need to be able to recognize that there’s a difference between knowing them and accepting that this is something that isn’t going to happen again.
In the end, we’re betting that Whitney needs to find whatever confidence she needs within herself, as opposed to some other force.
