Welcome to ‘Shiptober 2019! Throughout the month of October, CarterMatt will be bringing you our annual tournament featuring some of best ‘ships in all of TV. What is a ‘ship? It is comprised of characters you want to see together romantically. Maybe they’re already together, or maybe they’ve never been together. It doesn’t matter. ‘Shipping is one of the most popular parts of any TV fandom, it’s super fun and this tournament is a celebration of that.
In this particular showdown, we’ve got two ‘ships that are both popular, but also very different! In the case of Jane & Weller from Blindspot, you’ve got a popular pairing that has been around for a good while. Yet, in the other you’ve got Penelope & Josie from Legacies, a fairly-new ‘ship that has sparked an enormous following in a very short period of time. Both are exciting in their own way, but only one of them will make it to round 2.
Voting Rules – Voting will be underway in the poll below from now until Friday, October 10 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time. Vote however often you’d like! (For more voting instructions or technical questions, check out the bottom of this article for answers.)
Be sure that you subscribe to CarterMatt on YouTube — there are frequent video discussions there for many of the shows discussed in this tournament!
Jane & Weller, Blindspot (#4 seed) – The good news is that by the end of season 4, Jeller were together in a better way than they’d been here and there in the past. However, the bad news is that there’s no guarantee that Weller is even alive entering the fifth and final season! That explosion at the end of this past finale likely took a life or two, but we want to believe that Martin Gero and the rest of the team want these two characters to be happy. Maybe they can have that in season 5 … after they clear their names, anyway.
Josie & Penelope, Legacies (#5 seed) – Even though Penelope Park was only in a handful of season 1 episodes, the relationship she had with Josie (coined Posie by most of the internet) turned out to be a powerful force … and also one that drew so many people in. It was dynamic, compelling, and ultimately heartbreaking when Penelope left. There’s always hope for a return at some point down the line; for the time being, the evidence is definitely there that this is one of the most-popular ‘ships in the entire fandom.
Now, it’s your turn
Who do you want to see advance to the tournament? Be sure to vote below!
I can’t see the poll; what do I do? – If you are on mobile, scroll to the bottom of the page and click to view the non-AMP version. If that does not work, give the poll a moment to load! On some mobile browsers, it may take a moment.
How can I vote more than once? – If you are having trouble casting multiple votes, try switching your browser, your device, or visiting the page under private browsing or incognito mode. There should be many handy guides online explaining how to do so if interested.
