The Voice auditions: Preston C. Howell draws Michael Buble comparisons
What have we learned about Preston? For starters, that he has himself a heck of a voice for his age. He’s only 14 and yet, he’s got one of those voices that feels super-timeless, like he’s been doing this for a long time and he knows exactly every in and out of what his voice is supposed to do. It’s impressive, and there really aren’t too many other people out there quite like him.

It also helps Preston that he considers Michael Buble to be one of his biggest influences, given that he has a voice that sounds a lot like him. There aren’t too many crooners out there in the music business these days and for Preston, that’s nothing other than a bona-fide win. It basically means even more that he is someone who can come on this show and dominate with the best of them.
From a coach standpoint, one of the things that we’ve really noticed and recognized this season is how hard we are seeing Gwen work for it when it comes to trying to get various singers on her team. She went all-out in the hopes of getting Preston, including putting on a performance for him. After that, it’d be hard to not want to go with her … but he stuck to his guns and picked John. This seemed to be based mostly on musical sensibility than anything, given that John is so jazzy in his own right. Yet, you can argue that everyone else had a chance to make a case! Blake Shelton is friends with Buble, Gwen has to know him at least by extension, and Kelly has his number.
