Claws renewed by TNT for season 4, will be final season
In a statement today, Brett Weitz, General Manager for TNT, TBS, and truTV, confirmed the news with the following statement:
“For the past three seasons, Claws has handled delicate and culturally relevant themes like race, class, gender, age and sexual orientation with grace and humor via superb storytelling … Fans cherish the over-the-top Clawsian moments that have defined its run, and we will do them justice as we wrap up the tale of Desna and her crew.”

It did feel like Claws was the sort of show that could’ve lasted at least a few more seasons beyond just season 4, but clearly the decision is being made so that there can be the best ending possible. The ratings for season 3 were down versus the year prior, and maybe on some level that informed the decision as well. The struggle that probably goes along with keeping a show like this on the air is finding a way to keep the drama escalating … while also keeping Desna as a person who feels real and somewhat relatable. At the end of season 3, the character shifted somewhat — she started to realize that her pursuit of money and power wasn’t worth it anywhere near as much as she once thought and with that, she may be trying to clean up her act … or at least she could tell herself that. After the departure of Roller, she may opt to go in the other direction now and realize that she’s past a point of no return when it comes to a life of crime.
Based on the timing of the first, second, and third seasons, we would firmly expect Claws season 4 to air at some point in the summer of 2020. It’s the perfect spot for a show like this, both in terms of its tone and also the zaniness of the content that it routinely brings to the table.
