The Affair season 5: Who is playing older Ben in flash-forwards?

At the end of The Affair season 5 on Sunday night, you had a chance to see the character of older Ben in the promo for what’s ahead. It seems as though Joanie is going to be able to track him down, and we have a feeling that it’s going to get testy. More than testy. Deadly, in fact. We know already that Ben Cruz was a tumultuous force in Allison’s life, and we certainly think that the events of season 4 made it seem as though he was the responsible party.

Yet, when you saw the character of Ben last night, you probably assumed that it wasn’t the same actor. We are, after all, talking about a man who is decades older and he has to look believable! We suppose that the show could’ve gone the This Is Us route and aged up the actor in some various flash-forwards. Of course, the other option was to go in a different route with a different actor. That is what they’ve decided to do instead.

According to a new report from TVLine, Tony Plana is stepping in for Ramon Rodriguez in taking on this role, and it’s going to be interesting to see just how much of him we end up seeing. Finding a way to get justice for Allison — and, in one way, justice for Cole — is going to be an essential part of the story for Joanie moving forward. Yet, can she really go the way of “eye for an eye”? That’s a dangerous thing for her to take on, but at the moment, all possibilities seem to be on the table. That’s just one of the consequences that comes from a character who has spent most of her life dealing with demons — it’s just hard to predict what she would do in this given moment.
