Is The Politician renewed for season 2? Early premiere date hopes
It’s already fair to say that expectations are high for the long-term future of the series. Just think in this way — is is Murphy’s first show at the streaming service, and it is one that is coming on the air with a great cast. Just think in terms of Jessica Lange and Gwyneth Paltrow — performers who Murphy has an extensive history working with — alongside Ben Platt in the title role. This show is a departure in some ways from Murphy’s other work, but there will be some similarities insofar as some of the tone goes.
Here’s the good news that we know already about the future of this series: You will not be seeing it go anywhere in the near future. The Politician was renewed for a season 2 prior to the first season coming out, which is a tremendous stamp of approval and a sign that Netflix wanted everyone to feel a little bit comfortable. While Netflix used to have a habit of renewing shows for multiple seasons early, this isn’t something that is a guarantee anymore. They have a tendency these days to be rather quick to press the big cancellation button, largely because they have so many shows on the air. They don’t need to rely on any one thing for all that long, and that is also probably one of the reasons why many of their long-term shows don’t necessarily last for eight or nine years like you often see within the network TV world.
Once we get some more news in regards to The Politician season 2, we’ll let you know here. For the time being, though, we have a feeling that new episodes will launch in 2020. We think that one of the luxuries that comes with the show getting that early renewal is that Murphy and the team can play ahead a little bit easier — and with that, it helps to better ensure that there is not some super-long hiatus that comes to pass.
So, for now, just dive into the first season of The Politician and still enjoy it — this is not a show that will be out of metaphorical office anytime soon.
