While Heidi Klum may not have been a part of this past season of America’s Got Talent, it’s clear that there is still a lot of love for her.

Today, NBC confirmed that we were going to see the model and former Project Runway host on the panel when the show premieres in the new year. Meanwhile, she will be joined by the likes of Howie Mandel, Simon Cowell, and then surprisingly, Britain’s Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon. Her inclusion is certainly a surprise, given that she’s far from a big name here in the United States. We do really like Alesha, so it will be fun to see on this version of the show. (With that being said, we kinda wish there was an opportunity in order to see David Walliams cross over if anyone from BGT would — his relationship with Simon is infectious, to say the least.)
As for what this means for the status of Julianne Hough and then also Gabrielle Union on America’s Got Talent proper, we don’t want to read anything into it just yet. The franchise may just be looking to bring a lot of different talent to the panel to mix things up.
Our hope is that entering season 2 of AGT: Champions, they do find a way to bring in some talent that we haven’t seen before in the States. We’d also hope that there was a way to shake up the format slightly, given that the way the first season was done was ultimately quite terrible. Why in the world would you leave the voting up to some unknown “superfans” and not let the public in on it? Or, if you’re going to do that, why not allow more people to advance and give us a little bit of a longer season?
Hopefully, there will be more news on the lineup of AGT: The Champions over the course of the next few weeks!
