Chicago PD season 7 spoilers: Will Jay Halstead, Upton be explored?

As we move forward following the Chicago PD season 7 premiere, what are we going to see happening with Jay Halstead and Upton? We know that there are a lot of people out there who are rooting for the two of them to get together, but there have been a number of hurdles along the way. That includes Jay getting over everything that happened with Lindsay’s exit, and then also the relationship that transpired when it comes to Upton and Ruzek on the show last year.

Moving forward, there could be a chance to see a little bit more of these stories play out. The two will grow closer, but that doesn’t mean that we’ll see this turn into something more than what it currently is.

Speaking in a new interview when it comes to TV Guide, here is what executive producer Rick Eid had to say the characters’ future:

“We plan to explore it … Whether it is consummated or not, we’ll have to see, but those two definitely have chemistry.”

Are we hoping on some level to see this relationship flourish? Provided that it’s told in the right way, it could be well-done. Patience is a virtue here, as well as making sure that it happens in a way where it could actually last at some point down the line. The last thing that we want to see is a relationship rushed into on the series when, episodes later, it falls apart because the two aren’t ready. There has been enough drama on the show as it is that there’s no real reason to throw more on top with these characters.

Also, there are a ton of stories coming this season when it comes to Intelligence and some of the intense cases that they are going to be forced to confront. Think in terms of stopping drug lords and also unraveling what has been going on as of late when it comes to Ruzek and what happened to him at the end of last season.

The big takeaway from this story is that, for now, Upstead will have their day, we just have to understand that it’s going to be a slow ride.
