This Is Us season 4 spoilers: How Nicky Pearson will be involved

What is the role of Nicky Pearson going to be moving into This Is Us season 4? We do know that it will have a degree of importance to it. We are, after all, talking about a guy who is still alive despite being previously presumed dead. Meanwhile, we know that he’s someone connected to Rebecca Pearson in the flash-forward timeline. These are the breadcrumbs to whatever is going to be revealed later, and getting some face-time with this character will help to better understand him.

What we know about Jack’s brother at the moment is this: He’s got a lot of trauma following the events of Vietnam, he’s isolated, and he doesn’t often know how to ask for help. One of the parts of this season is going to better determining how he became like this — both in the past after Vietnam and the present. Speaking in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, here is some of what executive producer Dan Fogelman had to say:

“We have a good shot at seeing both Nickys … Where we will be mainly living is the period right after Vietnam, but not necessarily going over to the inside of the war.”

New episodes of This Is Us start tonight, but that doesn’t mean necessarily that we’ll be seeing the Nicky character starting then. We’ll see the producers take their time telling this and all stories — that’s what happens when you’ve got at least three more seasons. All indications at present do suggest we’re at the halfway point of the story. We’ve had a chance to live and breathe in this world for a little while, and we understand the emotional undercurrents and motivations of some of these characters.

Yet, at the same time, that doesn’t mean that the show isn’t going to be able to surprise us in some other forms and we are looking forward to it every step of the way.
