Is Last Week Tonight with John Oliver new tonight, airing on HBO?

Is Last Week Tonight with John Oliver new tonight on HBO, and what could the show spend its time discussing? Unfortunately, a part of this is going to have to be left up to our imagination.

After all, there is no new episode of the show coming up tonight, with the show’s official Twitter account confirming the news on social media today. It’s a real shame, just because there are SO many different headlines from the past week that could be addressed. (Then again, the same goes for just about every single week that the show is off the air.)

This time around, the show is missing out on covering what’s happening with President Trump and Joe Biden, plus the current state of the candidates and then also some of what’s happening with Iran. We think that some of these issues may be touched on when he returns, but at the same time Oliver has a tendency to divert expectations anytime he gets to one of his main segments. We’ve seen that time and time again, whether it be discussing foreign elections, cruel dictators, or policy issues that are not getting enough attention in the public eye.

So how long will this upcoming season of Last Week Tonight last? Think in terms of the next couple of months. Typically, Oliver’s seasons have a tendency to last until November, and that should be the case again here. That will be the time (at least in terms of headlines for this year) where things will be a little bit quieter. Most of the political news for the next several months will be happening in the new year, and that does bode the question as to whether or not Oliver will start up his new season earlier in order to cover some of the primaries. That’s something that we could get a little more insight on by the first couple of weeks in the new year.
