Is Jerry Ferrara leaving Power after season 6 episode 5? Is Proctor dead?

Jerry Ferrara

We knew entering the final season of Power that there were going to be some big deaths — but did you think that there would be one this early?

One of the things that we’ve come to learn about Tommy Egan is that he’s ruthless. He’ll do everything that he can in order to ensure that he gets his way. If that means killing Maria Suarez, then that’s what he is going to do. If that means dropping Joe Proctor, then he’s more than fine to do that as well.

Proctor’s death in episode 5 (entitled “King’s Gambit”) tonight was the biggest one since Angela died in the premiere — and this one was certainly more unexpected. We knew entering the episode that Joe was in big trouble, as Saxe was going to use the recording that he had of Joe letting his ex die in order to get what he wanted from him — an admission when it comes to what happened to Angela. That’s where Proctor was forced to act and he made a deal to rat out Tommy Egan in order to save his own hide and have a future with his daughter.

The problem? Tommy found out that something was in the works, and the moment that he found out that Proctor was living with Ghost, that was enough for him to act. Once Tariq and Proctor’s daughter were out of Ghost’s place, he then went in there and started shooting it up. It’s amazing the cops weren’t there IMMEDIATELY with all of that gunfire, but in the end Proctor found himself on the wrong end of the gun. He’s gone, and with that, so is Jerry Ferrara — an actor who proved himself in an incredible way through this series. For years, we wondered if he would be Turtle on Entourage forever– here, he completely reinvented himself as Power’s own version of Saul Goodman. Yet, unlike Saul, he had more of a moral code. He just got in too deep and in an effort to save his daughter, there was no saving him.
