Is Peaky Blinders renewed for a season 6 over at BBC, or is there a chance that it’s going to be canceled? Within this article, we’ll start to break some of that down.
Let’s start things off with this — at the moment, it doesn’t appear as though the show’s future fate is cemented one way or another by the network. Yet, it seems as though it will be. We wouldn’t say that there is some significant reason to doubt in the future, largely because the creative team is continuing to plot forward Tommy’s story and would like it to last for at least a couple more seasons.
In an interview with Slate earlier this year, executive producer Steven Knight made it clear that he was pushing forward with a vision for the next season already:
“I’m about to start writing season six now and if all the wheels fall off, or it goes horribly wrong, there’s probably people that will say something … But at this moment, it has its own logic and momentum. Right now, it feels as if the characters are just writing themselves.”
Through the next few months, we may learn a little bit more about the future for Peaky Blinders as a series — but when the dust settles, we’ll also go ahead and tell you not to expect anything to happen immediately. This is a show that tends to have long waits, and that makes sense when you consider the cast’s other commitments. There may be more story to tell, but it could take a little while for it to happen.
We do think that there is an eventual end to a story like this, as Peaky Blinders is not the sort of thing that is going to be sticking around forever. Yet, we do think that there is a reasonably amount of life left in it still, so we would just sit back and prepare for what is going to be an enjoyable next run of episodes … whenever some of those ends up airing. Even if it’s 2021, we have a feeling that the team will do their best in order to make sure it’s worthwhile.
Do you think Peaky Blinders will be renewed for another season?
