For everyone wanting more Supergirl season 5 information … rest assured, we’ll have more news to share soon.
In a new post on Twitter, the series’ official account confirmed that tomorrow, the official trailer for the upcoming batch of episodes is coming. That’s where you are going to see the latest when it comes to Kara Danvers, Lena Luthor, Alex Danvers, and a whole lot more. Season 5 to date is under a veil of mystery (other than Supergirl’s new costume and some new relationship details), so a trailer will help to fill in some cracks.
So what do we know for certain? The mysterious group Leviathan is going to be a big part of things, as they were first teased at the end of season 4. We know that Eve is somehow linked to them, and that the writers aren’t just looking to do some note-for-note recreation of everything within the comics. There will be some new stuff factored in here.
Will we get a Big Bad mentioned? Maybe, but we imagine that one of the early promotional pushes is going to be all about the morality of one Lena Luthor. How can it not be? At the end of season 4, her learning the truth about Kara set off a rift. It’s not a problem that is going to go away easily — she feels betrayed, especially when you consider the tension that has bubbled underneath for some time when it comes to the relationship between her and Supergirl. This will be a test for how good Lena truly is — and we remain hopeful that in one way or another, good will prevail. (There’s plenty of room for some evil stuff elsewhere.)
As for the impending threat of Crisis On Infinite Earths, we certainly are curious as to how the show is going to play into some of that. Remember that there’s a lot of Superman tributes going on here, whether it be Brandon Routh playing a version or Tom Welling coming back as Clark Kent. That was the big casting coup announced earlier this week. Consider that one of the ultimate homages to The CW’s superhero lore.
