Outlander at the 2019 PCAs: How a win could feel extra sweet

OutlanderIn case you didn’t know — but you probably did — Outlander is currently up for a People’s Choice Award! There’s been a push by many cast members over the past week or two, and that was accented further by a small push today courtesy of Sam Heughan. To get a sense of what we’re talking about here, check out the new post via his Instagram below.

We know that there are a lot of people voting for the show’s Bingeworthy Show nomination, but the question we want to get to in this article is this: What happens if the show wins? How will we be able to drop the metaphorical confetti?

Ideally, the response to this is that Starz would send someone out to the ceremony in order to accept the hardware — if that is at all possible. There are some big-time question marks that we’ve got about that now, if for no other reason than that filming may still be going on. As of right now, the show is working on its final four episodes. Yet, production won’t stop Heughan from attending New York Comic-Con alongside Caitriona Balfe, Maria Doyle Kennedy, David Berry, and Duncan Lacroix. (Sophie Skelton and Richard Rankin will hold down the fort in Scotland while all of that is being done in the US.)

Ultimately, it’s going to be up to production to figure out if there is a way for a cast member to be there, and they may not find out until long after schedules are set. (They may be set already for the remainder of the season.) Even if someone cannot attend, can there at least be a pre-recorded message to air during the show? The #1 reason to support Outlander is because the show deserves that extra dose of love. Yet, to go along with that the other main reason is to give the series and its stars a little bit of face time. Who knows? A show like this could be an introduction to the world for some who are watching. Getting that further name recognition, plus also the chance to see a cast member or two during the broadcast, would be what would make this overall win feel all the sweeter.
