The Masked Singer video: The Flamingo performs ‘Lady Marmalade’!
Costume-wise, it feels already like The Masked Singer is looking to replicate the success of the Peacock from last season with the Flamingo — it’s another big, flashy costume with the placement of the head in a fairly similar place. This also feels like a costume that is designed for movement, which we feel is the case for a lot of the masks that we’ve seen so far for season 2. The Bee and the Monster were a little harder to move about in at times, but she’s going to be able to move about the stage.

As for who we think the Flamingo sounds like, this performance doesn’t sound like anyone within the original “Lady Marmalade.” We’d say that they are someone with a great, soulful voice and someone with experience performing. It doesn’t feel like she has even the slightest bit of discomfort up there. One of the things that we do wonder about within this era of The Masked Singer is simply this: Is it someone who is trying to intentionally mask their voice? Song choice is so important, especially if you are already an established singer. There are some people (see Gladys Knight from last season) who you can’t mask really no matter what you do. However, there are others with voices that are a little more unavoidable. You hear them and, almost immediately, you recognize who they are.
We’ll be back with more teases from The Masked Singer season 2 in the days ahead but, when the dust settles, let’s just remind you of this: It’s all about the journey more so than the guessing-game. There are a ton of people who will figure this out fast.
